A series of educator-facing documents designed to refresh existing BGCA visual language while maintaining consistency, clarity, and ease of use. Each piece needed to feel distinct yet clearly part of the same system.
THE CHALLENGE
Bring clarity and consistency to content-heavy materials while preserving brand recognition. The two guides needed to function as a flexible system, cohesive but not repetitive, and easy for educators to use in real-world environments. In addition, all content was in raw Word doc form, which required understanding the subject matter and audience needs, to turn this into a digestible and creative document.
DESIGN APPROACH
I approached the project as a flexible document system rather than isolated layouts. The goal was to improve readability and engagement while allowing each guide to develop its own identity within BGCA’s established brand framework.
THE OUTCOME
The flexible template system reduced production time for new curriculum materials while maintaining brand consistency across all Boys & Girls Clubs of America programs. The standardized design framework enabled non-design staff to create professional, on-brand materials efficiently. These guides have become the foundation for curriculum development across multiple BGCA initiatives, serving educators and students from elementary school through high school.
